Wot-wot: SCUBA: Pulau Perhentian Besar [5-9 August 2005]

5/8/2005:

Meet up with Leong, Eddy and Justina and catch a taxi over to JB along with a few motorcycles.

Arrive at Lurking bus terminal at 19:30 and start our 9 hour journey to Kata Baru at 20:30

6/8/2005:
Bus drops us off at Jetike at 05:45. Take another taxi to Bersut Jetty and the office of tunabay. Have teh tarik and some prata for brekky!

Speed boat to Tuna Bay resort (on Pulau Perhentian Besar (Big Island)) and arrive at 07:30.

Chill out for a while before our first dive Tigar Ruang.

Start dive at 11:00, a bit apprehensive at first as I haven’t dived for 2.5 years, and as such suck a lot of air, but soon relax. Wonderful dive, great visibility, and talk to some clown fish.

Go for lunch. Red Snapper.

Second dive at Sugar Wreck. Cannot equalize left ear and hover around at 16 meters. Visibility not very good and don’t see much.

Rest of the afternoon chill on beach and have a Ramley burger.

Late dinner, and a storm comes in.

7/8/2005:

Get up at 07:40, have breakfast.

First dive was supposed to be at Secret Reef but the buoy was lost, so we head of to Temple of the Sea.

In the water at 09:45. Left ear still playing up so maintain a 10 metre level and swim above the rest of the team.

For the next dive we go to D’Lagoon, a much better dive along beautiful choral, very chill and not too deep. Ear still hurts, but took a gradual descent. Nice small fish to observe.
